How can I contact a property owner?

To contact the owner of a property you must be a member of VacationsByOwner. You can create a membership for free by clicking the "Join Us" link at the top of this page. Then you'll want to browse to the property you wish to have questions about. On the actual Property page you'll click a link in the upper right hand corner, or under the 'Other Information' section, entitled "Contact Owner". Fill out the form on the next page and an email will be sent to the owner of that property.

I think I've been contacted by a scammer/spammer, how do I report that?

If you think you have been contacted by a scammer/spammer please forward a copy of the email you received to sales@vacationsbyowner.com so we can block them from sending email through our web site. If you think you've already been scammed you'll need to report the incident to an authority at IFCC or the Interpol

I have a promotional code, how do I use it?

You can use your promo code by browsing to the 'My Portfolio' page of the site and clicking the link entitled "Purchase Listing". Then you'll can simply fill out the information, submit it, and you're on your way!

How can I update my property listing?

To update you property listing you'll need to browse to the 'My Portfolio' page of the site and click the link entitled "View My Listings". Then you'll click the name of the property listing you wish to edit, edit your information, submit the new info, and you're done! If you'd like to edit the photos of your property you'll just need to click the camera icon after visiting the "View My Listings" link.

Can you put my pictures up from another site?

We've made it very simple for you, and others, to upload and edit the photos of your property. If you are having trouble, or don't know how to get the images from another web site to your local computer, and you're using a Windows computer, you can use the following steps to do so.

1. Open the page you wish to obtain the pictures from in a new browser window.
2. Right click the image you wish to save and select "Save As..".
3. A pop-up window will come up and ask you where you want to save the file.
4. Choose your destination, make sure the file type is .JPEG, and click save.
5. You can now upload the photo you just saved to our site by following the instructions above.

How do I convert my photo from one of the more common file types to .JPG format?

1. Open your photo in Microsoft Paint (right click the file > "Open With" > "Paint").
2. Once the file is open click the File menu > "Save As…".
3. Below the "File name" drop down menu select "JPEG" as the file type and Save.

When I upload a photo I get an error or I'm getting sent back to the Home page, what's wrong?

There are many reasons this could be happening but the most common reason is that our system is unable to read your photo's file name or the path to it. Please make sure there aren't any abnormal characters (e.g. !@#$%^&*():<>?, etc...) in the filename or the path to it. If you find any please remove them and try it again. If you still have trouble you may want to contact us for further assistance.
